Segment 1: WVU Basketball Preview

Game 1 vs South Dakota St

• Slow Start for WVU... SDS is leading with 10min left in 1st half.
• Why do we always play to the level of our opponents...
• WVU shoot 25% from Three... if that continues going to be a long season.
• Shoots 39% from the field... it all looks rough.
• Floor paint is weird.
• McBride has 21pt... McNeil with 16th... and Sherman with 14.
• SDSU actually won the points in the paint battle this game.

Game 2 vs VCU

• Better? Yes.... I think.
• 37% for 3pts.
• 41% FG.
• Culver has a nice game with 23pts.
• McNeil has 16 (again)...
• Culver and Oscar have Double Double.

Game 3 vs Western Kentucky

• WVU Wins the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic.
• Oscar get two early fouls... and Gabe O. comes in and plays great.
  • 9 rebounds... 5 assists... 8 points... but more important was all over on defense... Deflections, took a charge.
  • Huggs really happy with Gabe in postgame.
  • Gabe makes all tourney team with Culver and Mcbride.
• Culver plays great for the 2nd day in a row.
  • Culver wins MVP for BBMCC.
  • Averages a double-double despite only 1 rebound vs WKU.
• Cottrell plays good D.
  • Huggs says that he needs to learn to play the physical and is not used to this level of ball.
• Huggs said that Bridges is rushing things too much and needs to slow down.
  • Huggs high on him with D... That he can guard a 2, 3, or 4...
• Huggs still cranky that they didn't get to play any exhibition or scrimmages (MEC) before this classic.
• Culver and Oscar dominate statistically by tournament's end.
  • Gabe turned in a solid tournament performance. Even scored his fair share of points vs WKU.
  • Dan Dakich was annoying this entire tournament.
  • Curious to see how WVU deals with pressure (either full court press or extended half court trapping zones) the rest of the way. I would expect opponents moving forward to press / pressure us.

• WVU Womens basketball start 2-0 with wins over Fresno State and LSU. Including Mike Carey's 700th win!
• Apparently there's a rumor that South Carolina may be pursuing Neal Brown (?).
