Segment 1: WVU gets destroyed in Ames, 31-14
- It was an embarrassing day to be a Mountaineer, wherever you may have been
- Neal Brown announced ahead of this game that RB CJ Donaldson had surgery and is out for the season
- The only opponents that ISU scored more points against were Ohio and Southeast Missouri State
- WVU is now 1-4 since explaining that “the story of the downturn was exaggerated”
- Doege and Daniels have essentially the same stats through 8 games comparing last year to this year… Dale Wolfley
- The defense continued to be a lost puppy in this one, completely unable to handle even fundamentals
- Dante Stills is now tied with Bruce Irvin all time in sacks with 22.5
- WVU had only 3 yards in the 2nd half until Greene came in
- Iowa State was averaging 62 rushing yards per game before playing WVU.. they 172 yds
- WVU opens as a 7.5 point underdog to Oklahoma with an o/u set at 64.5 points
- WVU’s game with Oklahoma on 11/12 is scheduled as a noon game on FS1
Other Football:
- There are now 9 head coaching openings for 2023
- 4 star WR Traylon Ray commits to WVU
- WVU recruiting class now ranks 26th nationally
- Sam James has now moved into the top 5 in WVU receptions all-time
Basketball:
- UMass and WVU announce a multi-year series starting in 2023
- Joe Lunardi feels like WVU could be in the midst of a overall decline
- Kansas is in trouble again (or something, who knows), but everyone agrees it won’t result in a post-season ban (or any real substantial punishment)
- The Big 12 is apparently in talks to add Gonzaga to the conference
- If this were to happen the conference would have the 1-4 finishers in the 2022 KenPom rankings
