- 1.6 million viewers tuned in to watch, making it the most watched non-week 1 Thursday game on ESPN since 2017
- Felt like an old school Big East Thursday night
- WVU held VT to 35 yards rushing, their lowest since 2015
- It was the most points ever by a WVU team in Blackburg
- Justin Johnson was called upon after an early Tony Mathis fumble and played really well
- Sam James had a salute for the ROTC crowd before halftime
- Jacolby Spells tacks on a pick six late
- Reese Smith continued his rough punt return play
- Va Tech’s offensive play calling was also…nothing to write home about
