Segment 1: WVU vs Virginia Tech, WIN, 27-21
1st Half
- Tony SETS THE SCENE!
- Taj Alston… Big play in first series
- First play is deep play… overthrow to Sam James (who was WIDE OPEN!!!)
- Leddie BIG Run…for a TD on 2nd play of the game…80 Yards!!
- Leddie joins the 2,000 yard club
- Zach Fraizer with a Big Block to open up the middle
- Sidelined is JUICED
- 7-0 WVU
- Alonzo Addae with a great sack.
- 2 series in and the Defense looks solid
- Crowd is owning the game…they are loud during Va Tech series
- Doug Nestor…playing again his old team
- ACC Officiating crew today
- Doege on free play….throws a BIG TD to BFW…deep ball SCOOT!!
- 29 Yard TD play
- 14-0 WVU
- Darryl Porter Jr with a late hit on Burmeister…missed call…
- This looked bad in real time, but the replay showed it wasn't late
- Va Tech marches down the field late in the first to score a 30yd passing TD
- Garret Green takes a snap in the 3 series...tucks and runs for a first on RPO
- They leave him on the field!
- 3rd series ends with a flop…Deoge under pressure and throws the ball away…O-line not great

- End of 1st 14-7 WVU
- First play of 2nd qtr ridiculous….Burmeister almost out of bounds…and throws an awesome pass
- Big Hold on 4th and 1 for Sean Mahone…Turnover on Downs!!
- Deoge throws another deep ball to Winston Wright…over throws! HE WAS WIDE OPEN
- Tyler Sumpter has a GREAT 68yd punt to pin Va Tech
- Garret Green Back…fumbles and throws it out of bounds...
- Snap was terribly low, so kind of good peace of mind to not make things worse
- Doege back in and throws a deep ball to Sam James for 30yards...into the red zone
- Doege throw to James…makes a good move and into the end zone for 16yards
- Great effort, breaking arm tackles, and into the end zone
- 21-7 WVU
- Va Tech Fumbles… and Recovers…but Chandler Semedo should have had it…Defense so far is doing their jobs!!
- Offense is looking great…Deoge makes a nice pass to Esdale…while getting hit.
- Winston Wright…with a great catch… and keeping balance to get the 1st down!
- Maybe out of bounds?
- FS1 Crew LOVES Doege!
- LEDDIE LEDDIE LEDDIE Chant…and Deoge runs and trips on his feet!
- Pass to the back of the End Zone…looks close…just incomplete pass. Legg kicks a 21yd Field Goal.
- This really was a horrible sequence to end the half. Terrible play calling after Leddie runs us into goal to go range.

- WVU kicks to VA Tech and Blackshear huge return late in the 1st half 78yard
- Time out craziness!! Then Va Tech False Start…Will this half ever end!?!?!?
- Va Tech misses the field goal…maybe all the time outs did mess up Va Tech!!
2nd Half
- WVU gets the ball to start
- Going for it on 4th and gets it with O’laughlin…good out route for a TE
- Fell like WVU is controlling the clock to start the 2nd half...
- Casey Legg from 44yds…GOOD!
- 27-7
- Defense is still doing their thing…and not letting Va Tech do anything
- Back to WV. They are running and chewing clock at this point.
- WVU immediately went to the "don't lose this game" offense the entire second half.
- Bartlett with a great sack!
- Bartlett had an AMAZING day.
- I mean, AMAZING.
- Va Tech big play…to the TE for 39yards
- Taj Alston and Mesidor bring pressure and sack Burmeister!
- Burmeister…runs 24 yard first down…and uses Ref as a blocker
- Blackshear runs a 20yd TD and they finish the 3rd qrt with a TD.. Defense looked tired
- 27-14 WVU
- Brown Fumbles…and Va Tech gets the ball back...BIG 4th qrt play for Va Tech
- Defense…sacks Burmeister…Bartlett…having a game!
- WVU is letting Va Tech back into this game!! Gweedoe and Johnson getting nervous
- Defense…does their JOB!!! Bartlett causes Fumble!!
- Alston with another sack…but thanks to Bartlett….
- Oh No!!! Va Tech scores on a junk play…WVU caught off guard…and they get a YAK TD
- 27-21 WVU (too close…Gweedoe and Johnson have seen this before...)
- Greene back in at QB…run play...
- Greene in on 3rd and 5...and…WVU calls time out...
- Greene still in 3rd and 5...and FALSE START on Gmiter…what a mess!!
- Doege back in and THROWS AN INTERCEPTION
- Tosses it into a crowd?!?!...what was he doing!?!??!
- Va Tech gets the ball in the red zone with 2 mins left.
- Va Tech has the close and field position in their favor…this is terrible!! PAINFUL!!
- 2nd half scoring continues to be an odd obstacle in the Neal Brown era.
- Comes down to 1 last play…4th and goal from the 4…WVU HOLDS!!!!!! Jackie Matthews with the coverage!!
- Flag for unsportmanlike conduct…the entire stadium goes into unsportsmanlike conduct...no one cares...WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
- Defense spent all day playing amazing.
- WVU has the ball on the 2 yard line to finish it off in victory formation.
- WIN the Black Diamond Trophy!!
What a day at Mountaineer Field
- The stadium looked amazing on a wonderful weather Saturday for college football.
- A sellout crowd.
- And they were getting after it early in Morgantown Saturday.
- The crowd wanted this rendition of Country Roads so bad.
- WVU has now won 7 straight home games.
- WVU social media with some fun back at Virginia Tech.
- Tech was in such a hurry to get out of Morgantown they actually accidentally left people behind.
Trapezoid of Evil Update
- Compare Saturday's environment to the Pitt game
- Where they lost to Western Michigan...
- WMU had the ball for 38 total minutes, racked up 500+ total yards, and scored 44 points in their 44-41 win.
- Penn State held a "white out" and beat Auburn 28-20.
- Maryland outlasted Illinois to somehow move to 3-0.

- Sooners beat Nebraska 23-16 in a game that many probably thought would've been a larger margin of victory for them.
- 3-0 now with victories over Tulane, Western Carolina (76-0), and Nebraska.
- Spencer Rattler went for 214 yds and 1 td over the Huskers (which feels pedestrian for him), however he did add 35 yards rushing and a rushing td.
- Game is next Saturday at 7:30 pm on ABC.
- Oklahoma opens -19.5 against WVU.
