INTRO:
- WVU beats LIU 66-0 and prepares for the battle for the Black Diamond Trophy against Virginia Tech.
Segment 1: WVU vs LIU, Win, 66-0
- WVU handles Sharks Week with a 66-0 victory.
- Winston Wright picked up where he left off against Maryland by taking the opening kickoff to the house.
- Leddie Brown came into the game needing 104 yards to become the 20th Mountaineer to rush for 2,000 yards. He went for 31 on 15 carries...
- In one drive, Garrett Greene had the most rushing yards for a QB since Will Grier in 2017.
- Greene made the threat of the RPO real in this game.
- He joined some good company in terms of WVU rushing QBs.
- We didn't have one explosive run (12+ yards) all day.
- Doege threw the ball 26 times to Greene's 7 attempts.
- The biggest gripe on Greene seems to be the unknowns around his ability to pass the ball.
- ...but I still think this article from smoking musket.com sums things up really well.
- Specifically: "Jarret Doege has only three games in his WVU career where he has thrown a pass over 40 yards" which was true before and after the LIU game.
- LIU's head coach was not amused.
- Everyone but the hot dog vendors made an appearance for WVU in this game.
- PacMan was in attendance.
- The WVU defense hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown at home since November 9, 2019 (Texas Tech).
- WVU at Oklahoma has been announced as a 7:30 pm kick.
